Volunteers of America Food Pantry

The Volunteers of America Aurora Food Pantry has proudly served the Aurora community for
over 40 years. Every day, local families, individuals, and seniors stop in for some extra help in
their time of need. With the support of our amazing community, the Pantry has become a place
of hope and nourishment for the soul. We’re a choice pantry with fresh foods, grocery staples,
holiday meals, and hygiene and household supplies. A choice pantry means guests take what
they like and need. And with your help we can help them as much as they need.
Sadly, the number of seniors who need help has increased by 35% over the past year. Recently,
a 68-year-old woman came to our door. She lives by herself and is on a fixed income. Humbled
and scared, this was the first time she ever came to a food pantry for help. She shared she
doesn’t have enough money anymore. And everything has gotten so expensive, she can’t figure
out how to meet all the price increases for food, utilities, rent, and personal items. As she was
going around the pantry getting food, she started to cry and said, “I’m not going to be hungry
tonight. I go to bed hungry many nights.”
With the support of our great community, today she’s getting help and love. We’re connecting
her to other resources to make sure she isn’t hungry, scared, and alone anymore … and we
couldn’t do this without you. Thank you!
